Ecological - Folklore Museum of Folegandros

This ecological museum brings together all the elements of primeval, improvisation and perfect functionality. The walls are built of stone and mud. The roofs are built with a combination of soil and seaweed and the pillars are made of local tree, "feides". The floor is pressed soil and the water comes from the rain which is gathered in cisterns.

A small threshing floor and the most primitive wine press have been preserved in the middle of the yard. You can also see a stone cylinder on a circular pedestal where olives were crushed as well as the mill with a lever which pressed a sack with pulp so that oil would flow in a clay pot.

In the exhibits of the Folklore Museum you will see objects such as a loom, jars, baskets, etc. In the newest home of the late 19th - early 20th century, you will find representative items of the Modern Greek era.
